Civil Courage Training
Our newest service aimed specifically at young people is civil courage training. The training is designed for high school pupils and apprentices from the tenth school year onwards and can be booked online at www.zivilcourage.at. In 2010, with thanks to external funding, the MKÖ was able to carry out over 300 civil courage training sessions at no cost. The training lasts for four hours and has a maximum of 15 participants.
The training aims to make non-involved spectators into helpers. The civil courage training should empower people to intervene in "unpleasant" public situations. Young people learn how to handle situations in which people are attacked, unconscious, acting aggressively or causing fear. Situations in which discrimination takes place are also addressed, as well as helping participants to identify their own limits and skills.
